Lawrence Stephen Lowry entered this grimy world on 1st November 1887 in industrial Lancashire He became famous for painting the scenes around him, populated by matchstick figures, Our tribute shows his self portrait superimposed on 'Brewery Train, High Street, Burton' one of six paintingshe did during visits to Burton in the early 1960's By the end of his life he had turned down many honours including a Knighthood, remaining a simple man and an avid Manchester City fan |
